Historically, Ribeira dos Caldeir\u00f5es was a vital area for the lives of the local population. Over the centuries, watermills were built along the river, harnessing the energy of the waterfalls to grind grain and for other agricultural activities. Many of these mills are still preserved, serving as an important testament to the rural history of the island of S\u00e3o Miguel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is also a picnic area on site, with several areas with tables, barbecues and bathrooms. The park also has a cafeteria and a souvenir shop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the main highlights of the Ribeira dos Caldeir\u00f5es Park are the water mills.
