Due to the abundant vegetation in the area, there is much wildlife near the lagoon, such as São Miguel bullfinches, common buzzards, grey wagtails, and Azorean wood pigeons. In the water, two species of fish currently live: carp and perch.
What to do at Congro Lagoon? Hike! A perfect activity for nature and outdoor enthusiasts. The trail is about 700 meters long, but it’s well worth it! The access is not the easiest, as it is in the midst of nearly untouched nature. Sometimes, the path can be muddy. Appropriate footwear is recommended, as the terrain can be wet and slippery. The descent takes about 15 minutes, and the ascent follows the same path. Once you reach the lagoon, take the time to relax, enjoy the landscape, and capture the natural beauty of the area through photographs.
