1 – Monte Brasil

Monte Brasil is located in the civil parish of Sé, in the city of Angra do Heroísmo. It is an old extinct volcano, whose volcanic cone is 205 meters high and with a sunken crater up to 30 meters deep.

It is currently a protected landscape and the city's natural park. In this place there are several amazing viewpoints, as well as tree and shrub species. Visitors can enjoy the fauna and flora and marine area of this Nature Reserve.

In Monte Brasil is located the Castle of São João Baptista, one of the most important Philippine fortifications, built in Portugal in the 16th century.

2 – Algar do Carvão

Algar do Carvão, located in the civil parish of Porto Judeu, in the city of Angra do Heroísmo, is a site of geological interest and classified as a Natural Monument. It consists of a volcanic chimney 90 meters deep, formed over 3200 years ago.

It is a place that can be visited throughout the year, perfect for the most adventurous ones to discover! This natural wonder is an unique and magical place, as it is the possibility to visit and feel, at first hand, the interior of Terceira Island. It's exploring the bowels of a volcanic land. 3 – Miradouro da Serra do Cume

The Serra do Cume Viewpoint, located in Praia da Vitória, is one of the best-known viewpoints on Terceira Island. This is perfect for enjoying the fantastic views over the island's Caldeira dos Cinco Picos. From this point, you can see the famous “Blanket Patchwork”. This is a set of farmland divisions in various shades of green.

On one side it is possible to see the city of Praia da Vitória, its bay, the Air Base and the Lajes Plane. On the other side, you can see a huge and extensive plain and its vegetation, as well as the natural walls made of stone.

The Serra do Cume Viewpoint is a wonderful place to contemplate the scenic beauty of Terceira Island and its grandeur. It is a must-visit point!

4 – Piscinas Naturais dos Biscoitos

The Biscoitos Natural Pools are located in the civil parish of Biscoitos, in the municipality of Praia da Vitória, on the northeast coast of Terceira Island. It is a very popular bathing area and sought after by both locals and visitors to the island.

These salt water pools are natural pools surrounded by volcanic rocks that resulted from several eruptions. Here you can dive, sunbathe and relax. Its waters are fresh, clean and crystalline. On site you can find some support structures, such as kiosks selling food products, souvenir shops, among others.

Do not miss the opportunity to dive in a place that breathes nature and natural beauty. The contrasts between the black basalt and the blue of the sea result in a divine landscape.
